Teamwork ~ Leadership ~ Commitment
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

This is not your Grandpa's VFW.  You wanted something updated, well you've got it.  You wanted something new, well you have that as well.  Welcome to the Delco Defenders!
What sets us apart you might ask?
  • We don't have a bar or social members.
  • Delco Defender meetings are low key, updated, and upbeat.  We play good music ( Don't tell the other VFW's)
  • You've paid enough, period.  Dues are covered by the Post.
  • Comrade means something different to us so we don't use that term.
  • Most of us are Iraq or Afghanistan vets who didn't care for the outdated, musty bars of the typical VFW.

Commanders Minute
It takes time...  I didn't walk into the VFW until many years after my service.  Joining a group like this can bring back memories and I absolutely understand if this isn't the time.  We all deal with what we've been through differently and it's ok if you're not ready.  The time will come and when it does, I look forward to the hand shake, the quick intro of where we served, and the pause that follows as we remember for a minute or two.  If the time is right, stop in to one of our meetings at 7pm on the first Wednesday of the month at the Springfield Township Building, Springfield, PA.
